S is for Sexy - and a call for UK writers!

My plan for the A - Z Challenge is to write every post as if it were a diary entry by a character from my WIP. Today's post comes from Radleigh McCoy.

**

Oh come on, you give me the letter "S," where did you think I was gonna go with that?

Women spend a lot of time bitching about their weight, and how they wish their butt/nose/earlobes were smaller. Men don't care about this. Well, we do like it if a woman is naturally smokin' hot, but if she doesn't have the confidence to back it up, it's a waste of good looks.

I work with some hot ass women. Take Freya, for example. She's pretty much what every guy thinks of when they picture a gorgeous woman. And Bree Collinson? Holy hell, Jude's lucky to have her.

There are very good reasons why I don't go after those girls. First of all, Freya and Will have been in love with each other for years, and nobody else stands a chance. But that's not why I don't go after her. Pretty as she is, she just doesn't do it for me. I've never once imagined what she looks like naked.

Okay, that's a lie, I'm a guy, after all.

My point is, I don't feel any kind of pull towards her. Same with Bree. She talks too much, anyway.

I sleep with a lot of women, mostly because they make it easy for me. Why turn it down when it's offered, right?

But the sexiest women to me are the ones who look good, have confidence, but act like they aren't interested. I like a challenge.

Women like Leah.

That is going to be a sweet victory when she finally gives in.

As an additional thing today, I wanted to put a call out for UK writers, most especially, those who live in the South West. I have been amazed by how many other bloggers I've found who live in and around Devon and Cornwall - so I was wondering if any of you are interested in maybe arranging a meet up sometime?  No pressure, no worries if not, I just wanted to get a feel for whether anyone would be up for it. If you are  - leave a comment, or shoot me over an email at kyralennon(at)gmail(dot)com. This isn't specific only to writers in the South West - if you are in the UK and would be interested in coming down to the Westcountry, you are more than welcome!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Oooh mixed feelings about him now, that's a very cocky opinion, but she really has got to him, so it'll be interesting to see how this develops.

I'd definitely be up for a meet-up! I was kind of thinking the same thing.

  2. This line: "That is going to be a sweet victory when she finally gives in." sums Radleigh up to a T!

I love how even he can see there's something between Will and Freya, and I laughed at his comment about Bree.

Leah has really gotten under his skin, hasn't she? I can understand the pull, if she's attractive, confident and "immune" to his charms! I bet her being uninterested makes her one hundred times more appealing to him.

Excellent voice to Radleigh as always. I'm impressed how well you get into this guy's head.

  3. Cool! Good luck with your call for UK writers. And dont you just wish you could go back in time to teenage years and know the very thing Radleigh says???

  4. Hi Kyra .. one day I'd love to come down .. my mother lived in Penzance .. so for decades I've always been through Devon and stopped off occasionally .. for now I'm in Eastbourne as this is where my mother is after her strokes - in a Nursing Centre. I think of myself as Cornish .. though I lived in South Africa for a while ..

Good luck with your writing .. cheers Hilary

  6. If I lived in the UK I'd most definitely be down to meet you. But someday. Oh yes, I'm gonna meet you girl. LOL.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Oh, Kyra, I wish I lived near you because I would love to meet you, grab a coffee and have a chat about writing!

PS: Love the part about picturing her naked, cause he's a guy after all. Brilliant!

  8. I really like the character you've created for Radleigh. He's much more complicated than he appeared in the first diary entry you wrote. I feel like I've watched him develop a bit through the month.

Wish I lived in UK. Good luck with your meet up!

  10. You've made him a read person now.

  11. Hahaha, this sounds about right! I wish I was in the UK so I could meet up with your, Kyra! But I'm all the way across the Atlantic, LoL

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!!

  12. It's so true that sexiness is about confidence! Like, for example, I love my earlobes. ;)

It's a great idea to meet up with other bloggers. I've met Jenny from Supernatural Snark and Dani from Refracted Light Reviews here in Ohio, and they are wonderful women.

  13. Will you fly me out there and I'll meet up with you? Oh my gosh, that sounds like so much fun!

  14. Great post! Hehehe, you just had to give him the letter S!

  15. I knew he was lying about the naked thing.

  16. If only we got more organised BEFORE my trip and we could make your southwest meet coincide with my trek through there ;) Oh well, maybe someday in the future!!

I never seem to meet anyone in my online communities who lives in my neck of the woods, it sucks!

  17. Still great voice. I'm not even remotely close to the UK, but good luck finding a writer's group.

  18. Typical man. Why turn it down if it's offered... ha ha!

I think there are quite a few bloggers in the Devon area. Laura ( Daily Dodo) and Madeleine are the two I can think of off the top of my head.

  19. Hello, fellow UK writer! I'm more London and South East, but if I'm ever in the area I'll let you know! ;) There are some great writers' conferences where we can all meet up: there's Crimefest in Bristol for crime and thriller writers, and Talli will be speaking at the Festival of Writing in York. Been there last year and it's an absolute blast!

It's here! WIP: The Movie!

I can't even tell you have excited I have been about this! It's early, so I have only got round to a few entries so far, but I am having a blast reading them all! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course, to my awesome co-host, Rachel ! It's time for me to introduce you to the characters from my - as yet untitled - WIP. When I first started this blog, my WIP was different, so this might confuse some of you (sorry about that!). This is Leah Walker, my MC. Technically, she is a little young, but she looks perfect! Leah is a physiotherapist for an American soccer team, but she is actually an English girl with a, let's say, colourful past. Radleigh McCoy is the ridiculously good-looking, not to mention exceptionally arrogant soccer player who challenges Leah in every way possible.  This is Freya Phillips. Freya is Leah's best friend and roommate. She works as a coach for the soccer team, and she is both very kind, and totally wild! Th...

IWSG: Books Sales

IWSG time! I'd like to start by thanking Alex J. Cavanaugh for this fab bloghop, and today in particular, it is just the motivation I need to get me blogging again! Today, I'm talking book sales. Now, I don't really know if there is any kind of "average" amount of books sales when you're an indie author. I don't know what is considered a good amount of book sales per month, or whether I am doing better or worse than others. What I do know, is that I am happy with the amount of books I've sold. I self-published because I want people to read my work - and people are reading it - yay! My concern is - what if the sales stop? I know after a time, everyone's book sales will slow down, but I have this fear that I'll check my sales every couple of weeks to find that nobody cares about reading my books anymore. The dreaded 0 will show on my Kindle sales, and I will plummet into a pit of despair. It hasn't happened yet, but Game On has onl...

Camp NaNo Update, and details

To begin with, I want to say thanks again to Emily for allowing me onto her blog as a blogging mentor! Being interviewed is always fun, and Emily is awesome! So, to Camp NaNo! Four days in and I'm still on track! Well, I will be when I finish today's writing. :D I mentioned a while ago that I was planning to battle boy POV, and I'm doing my best to get through it. However, it is hard, so I decided to turn my NaNo story into dual POV so it will be 50% less difficult! I'm not against cheating to get the work done. :p Just to give you a quick recap on what I'm doing for NaNo: In Game On, I have a young soccer player named Jesse Shaw, and he proved quite popular during the A-Z challenge. So, I decided he needed his own spin-off story! It's set at the end of the soccer season, when Jesse and his best friend go to London. I don't have a proper synopsis yet, but this is my guideline for now Soccer sensation Jesse Shaw literally has the world at his fee...
