X is for eX Girlfriends - and the Oh, My Hero Bloghop!

My plan for the A - Z Challenge is to write every post as if it were a diary entry by a character from my WIP. Today's post comes from Radleigh McCoy.

**

I sleep with a lot of women, but I don't have a lot of ex-girlfriends. I can't see any good reason to date a girl unless she's really worth spending time with.

When I was in school, I had a couple of girlfriends, mostly short term. I don't think I dated any of them for more than a year. My longest relationship was with Jen. She was every guy's dream. I met her just after I signed with the Warriors, and she really turned the boys' heads. God, she was perfect. Great body, beautiful face, amazing legs. Too bad she was a bitch. She had one of those messed up personalities, turning on the charm when she wanted something, but once she got it, she was cold. I put up with it for two years because we looked good together, but as it turned out, she was sleeping with one of my teammates.

I gave her everything she wanted so it really burned my ass to find out she'd been dropping her panties for the team goalkeeper. At the end of the season, they left L.A. which was a good thing. It's hard to be on a team with a guy you can't trust, and seeing her around all the time reminded me of what a two-faced slut she was.

And now it’s time for another super cool blog hop, hosted by the wonderful Jaycee DeLorenzo and Victoria Smith! Here are the rules:

Post a picture of your hero with a character interview that has at least 5 questions.  You can check out the sample questions below, or come up with your own, since you know your hero best and what you'd like to reveal about him.

On that note, I would like to give you a further glimpse into the mind of Radleigh McCoy!

1. How would you describe yourself in one word? Sexy.

2. How would you describe your heroine? Sexy. Oh, you want more than that? I don’t know if heroine is the right word, but the woman I want right now is … challenging. She acts all uptight, like she plays by the rules and never steps out of line, but I see through her. When she looks at me, I know there are dirty thoughts in her head, and I know that one day, she will tell me all about them. And then show me.

3. What’s your idea of a perfect date? *pauses for thought* I guess I don’t really have an idea of a perfect date. I’m not crazy about going to the movies because you can’t talk there. Girls usually expect me to take them to expensive restaurants, and I oblige because I know I’ll get laid after. But I’d be just as happy doing something low key. If the company is right, it doesn’t really matter what you do.

4. Do you believe in love at first sight? No. I believe in attraction at first sight, but love? Sounds pretty unrealistic to me.

5. What song makes you think of your heroine? Great question! Whenever I fight with Leah, I hear this:

Aaaand finally! I reached 200 followers! Thanks so much to all of you for sticking with me - I can't quite believe it! I will do my best to keep on entertaining you! :D

Have a great weekend!

  1. Radleigh definitely sounds like a 9 on the hot meter. Excellent interview Kyra. Glad he dumped the bitch, I mean really.

    1. You'd have to be one crazy lady to cheat on Radleigh! :D

  2. Two very interesting insights into Radleigh's mind. The story of his ex is especially telling, I think. I love his answers to the interview, especially his perfect date.

As always your voice for him is excellent!

    1. Lol, I giggled when I realised that your character and mine pretty much said the same thing about the dates!

  3. I think he's my favourite character. He's pretty straight forward - he's for the hot chick because they looked good together, but he got burnt so now he's looking for something more real, with a girl he actually likes to spend time with!

  4. Wow, you've definitely been endearing Radleigh to me over the month. He started out seeming like such an ass, but it looks like he's got quite a bit of a sensitive side too.

    Congratulations on your followers!

    1. Thanks!

He's an ass quite a lot of the time, but he has his occasional softer moments too. :D

  5. So is Radleigh a character who changes by the end of your story, or is he the same cocky guy?

    1. He remains cocky throughout, but he definitely goes through a few changes! :D

  6. I love that opening sentence: I sleep with a lot of women, but I don't have a lot of ex-girlfriends. What a TELLING statement! You can write a whole series of books based on that one statement alone!!! Did I say I love it?

    1. Thanks! He is rarely that honest - we must have caught him at a weak moment! :D

  14. Really love your journal entry. He had me in hysterics and he's sooooo fine! Seems like he's been burned a few times which makes for a hero who really appreciates a good heroine. Great job here!

  18. Radleigh is a huge crack-up, love a guy who is so BLOKEY. haha. i guess i love them most if they are going to get 'got' in the end by a strong female lead ;)

  28. Love the confidence oozing through this, but he sounds like the kind of guy I'd be slapping most of the time. No wonder his heroine is so challenging.

  31. I loved Radleigh’s diary entry, it was a very masculine POV, he sounded like a dude would! It was great.

I love the pic of him too, mmm hmmm. :)

He would describe himself as sexy? Very sure of himself! hehehe. I am also a fan of low key dates, it doesn’t have to be a big fancy deal, but that is nice too sometimes. And I love Maroon 5, he has good taste in music.

  34. Loved the diary entry!!! And the interview was great, not to mention the gorgeousness of that picture. I could stare at him all day. lol

  35. Where did you get that picture of my boyfriend? :p

You can't help loving that scoundrel, Radleigh. I'm starting to think Leah should just give him a chance haha (completely different view to when I first started reading the entries... good job!) :)

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo...

GUTGAA Meet and Greet!

Oh, I have SO been looking forward to this!! But, before I start, I need to send a huge apology to Emily R.King and Melodie Wright. I signed up to their What I Did Last Summer Bloghop , but it looks like I'm not going to have the time to participate. :( I've never backed out of a bloghop before, but as you may have noticed, I've been kind of out of the blogging loop for a while and now I'm struggling to catch up! Please go and check out Emily and Melodie's hop, though - it's fun! :D NOW, onto GUTGAA! This amazing blogfest was put together by Deana Barnhart , and was designed to help writers in their quest to find an agent, plus help form connections between writers. The idea is genius and I am so excited to be a part of it! So, I am going to begin with the meet and greet questions, and I'll be hopping around to other blogs later! :D Bio : Kyra Lennon was born on the South coast of England, and to this day, still lives by the sea. IWSG: Am I doing it right? And does anyone care?

Happy IWSG Day! This genius idea created by Alex J. Cavanaugh is a place for all of us insecure writers to gather together to talk about our worries, and cheer each other on. Check out the full list of participants here ! Think right now about your favourite writers. How do you feel when you know they have a new book being released? It's usually something like, "HURRY UP, I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!" right? And also, think about when one of your super talented blog buddies announces they've got a book coming out soon. That is even more exciting because it's someone you know, someone you may have seen struggling to reach their goal of publication. Someone you've seen go through the rough times, and have finally made it to where they want to be. I can tell you that when Jolene Perry, or Nyrae Dawn announce a book release - I bounce up and down like a crazy person! These two awesome ladies are writers I absolutely adore for their ability to write so natural...
