V - Visitors
(Radleigh)
“Guess what, guess what, guess what?”
Leah bounded over to the sofa clutching her phone, and threw
herself onto my lap, wrapping her legs around my waist. It was difficult to
guess what had got her so excited when she wound herself around me that way, so
instead of guessing, I kissed her, long and hard, my hands on her back.
“Radleigh.” She laughed, but kissed me one more time. “Stop
trying to distract me, I have good news!”
“Is it better than this?” I pulled her closer, and her body
melted beneath my hands.
“Well, no. But it’s still pretty cool.” She unwound an arm
from around my neck to show me her cell. “I just got a text from Jesse. He’s
coming over!”
Jesse Shaw was the newest and youngest addition to the Westberg
Warriors, and he and Leah had formed a close friendship, I think because they
were both new to the team. They bonded over that fact, and they’d remained
close even when Leah moved away.
“He’s going to be staying in London,” she went on. “Can we
go and see him?”
“Sure we can. It’ll be good to see someone from home.”
Leah dropped her phone down, and snuggled against me again. “Do
you miss it?”
I nodded. “I miss it. But right now, I’m exactly where I
need to be.”
