G – Getaway
(Leah)
“Looks like our plans for the day are ruined,” I said,
dropping the curtain to hide the downpour outside our bedroom window.
We’d just woken up on our first morning in St.Ives – one of
my favourite places ever – and the weather was horrendous. I’d been looking
forward to showing Radleigh around to all the places I used to go when I was a
kid, but the pouring rain had put a stop to that. Obviously, we wouldn’t melt,
but St. Ives in the rain - while still
visually appealing – wasn’t what I had in mind.
Radleigh grinned up at me from the bed. “Your plans might
have been ruined, but this works out great for what I had in mind.”
He lifted the duvet, gesturing for me to get back into bed
with him. As if I could say no to that!
Laughing, I climbed back into the bed, and snuggled against
him, running my hand down his firm stomach. Mmm.
“Yeah, I guess this works, too.”
“We’ve got two weeks, Leah. We can explore any time. Right
now, we have this whole place to ourselves. We’re stocked up on food, there’s nothing
we have to do today. If we want, we can just stay in bed.”
My insides quivered at his words. God, he was so right. We’d
rented a holiday apartment where we could go come and go when we pleased, not
having to worry about chamber maids coming in to clean, and interrupting us.
This was our space.
His eyes met mine, that familiar flash of devilishness
making me forget any thoughts I had about exploring anything other than him. As
he leaned down to kiss me, his lips soft, hungry, I let out a sigh of
happiness.
This is what romantic getaways are all about, right?

ReplyDeleteThey have such a strong dynamic. And I'm a bit of a sucker for romance lately. Is that strange? Do you find yourself more gushy the older you get?
ReplyDeleteSounds like my kind of vacation! HAHAHAHA. Lots of chemistry here Kyra! Great job.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a wonderful vacation! Rainy days can be plenty of fun too!
ReplyDeleteFor shame Leah! I can't believe you had to be told there was a better alternative to site-seeing!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Radleigh - that sounds like a perfect day to me!!
ReplyDeleteRead through from the beginning. Sounds like you've got a cozy little romance going there. Are these characters from your other stories?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to stop reading these teasers before I read the book! I'm bumping it up in my TBR list now :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes the perfect getaway is to get away from the family and take a nice long nap. Ahhhh, now that's the perfect day. Well, at least afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI can totally picture Radleigh saying the line about how staying in all day fits into his plans exactly!
ReplyDeleteI haven't yet read Blindsided but I'm looking forward to it.
Whoo! Jesse has me in need of a fan. Oh my. Radleigh definitely has the right idea for that kind of getaway. Rain or shine they'll have a wonderful time.
