B is for Blighty

Hello! Thanks to all those who dropped by the blog yesterday! I have a little more time today to catch up on anything I missed and I'm looking forward to seeing all of your A-Z posts!

**

My A-Z Theme is based on my books, the Game On series. You won’t need to have read them to follow this story, since it’s slightly removed from the full plot, like a side story. What it will do is give you a glimpse into my characters, and a chance to get to know them a little bit, PLUS, during the story, you will get a mini tour of parts of the UK! The posts will come from two of my main characters, Leah Walker and Radleigh McCoy.  If this is your first time here, please start at the letter A. :D

B - Blighty
(Radleigh)

I never heard the word “Blighty” before until I met Leah – if you’re interested, I Wikipedia’d it for you. But that’s where I was. I’d been to London a few times before, and I never got to see much of it besides the airport, the hotel, whatever TV studio I had an interview at, and whatever soccer pitch I got to play on. Having an extra day to spend with Leah, taking in the city was pretty cool. Mostly because I got some real time with her.

Okay, I admit it. I missed her when she left L.A. You can’t understand how big a deal that is. Over the past couple months, I’d seen my teammates giving me weird looks every time I turned down a hot woman I’d usually have dragged to my hotel room and screwed until she fell asleep and I could sneak out. Leah was never one of those girls, though. She always meant more. Well, nearly always. At first she was just a really hot pain in the ass.

“What are you thinking about?” Leah asked, looking up from packing her bags, ready to go back to Cornwall in the morning.

From my place on the edge of the bed, I grinned. “I was thinking about getting you alone when I get back from L.A.”

Gotta keep her on her toes, right? Just because I was in love with her, didn’t mean I was about to start calling her “snookums” and sprinkling the bed with rose petals.

Although…

“Slow down, Don Juan,” she said, laughing. “You have to meet my parents before we disappear for a few days of debauchery.”

Ah yeah. I’d sort of pushed that part out of my mind. I didn’t expect her parents would be too excited to meet me since I was the guy who planned to take their daughter halfway across the world to live with me. Again.

“What are they like?” I asked.

“You mean, what can you do to charm my mum, and make my dad think you’re worthy of me?”
It was disconcerting how well she read my sub-text.

“Yeah. That.”

“Well.” Leah rose from her spot on the floor, and came over to sit on my lap, winding her arms around my neck. “My parents are sort of… ordinary. Mum is a worrier, but she’ll probably be so taken with your good-looks that she’ll forget she’s supposed to be pissed off with you.”

I narrowed my eyes at her teasing grin.  “Are you mocking me?”

She laughed. “A little. But it’s true, though. She’ll see you, and… if you can be the way you were around my brother and sister-in-law, she’ll understand why I can’t wait to spend a couple of weeks holed up in a holiday cottage with you.”

I wasn’t sure I was a “holiday cottage” kind of guy, but as long as there was a bed and a place to eat, I didn’t care where we went. I’d been without her for too long. We had a hell of a lot of catching up to do.

It's here! WIP: The Movie!

I can't even tell you have excited I have been about this! It's early, so I have only got round to a few entries so far, but I am having a blast reading them all! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course, to my awesome co-host, Rachel ! It's time for me to introduce you to the characters from my - as yet untitled - WIP. When I first started this blog, my WIP was different, so this might confuse some of you (sorry about that!). This is Leah Walker, my MC. Technically, she is a little young, but she looks perfect! Leah is a physiotherapist for an American soccer team, but she is actually an English girl with a, let's say, colourful past. Radleigh McCoy is the ridiculously good-looking, not to mention exceptionally arrogant soccer player who challenges Leah in every way possible.  This is Freya Phillips. Freya is Leah's best friend and roommate. She works as a coach for the soccer team, and she is both very kind, and totally wild! Th...

Camp NaNo Update, and details

To begin with, I want to say thanks again to Emily for allowing me onto her blog as a blogging mentor! Being interviewed is always fun, and Emily is awesome! So, to Camp NaNo! Four days in and I'm still on track! Well, I will be when I finish today's writing. :D I mentioned a while ago that I was planning to battle boy POV, and I'm doing my best to get through it. However, it is hard, so I decided to turn my NaNo story into dual POV so it will be 50% less difficult! I'm not against cheating to get the work done. :p Just to give you a quick recap on what I'm doing for NaNo: In Game On, I have a young soccer player named Jesse Shaw, and he proved quite popular during the A-Z challenge. So, I decided he needed his own spin-off story! It's set at the end of the soccer season, when Jesse and his best friend go to London. I don't have a proper synopsis yet, but this is my guideline for now Soccer sensation Jesse Shaw literally has the world at his fee...

IWSG: Books Sales

IWSG time! I'd like to start by thanking Alex J. Cavanaugh for this fab bloghop, and today in particular, it is just the motivation I need to get me blogging again! Today, I'm talking book sales. Now, I don't really know if there is any kind of "average" amount of books sales when you're an indie author. I don't know what is considered a good amount of book sales per month, or whether I am doing better or worse than others. What I do know, is that I am happy with the amount of books I've sold. I self-published because I want people to read my work - and people are reading it - yay! My concern is - what if the sales stop? I know after a time, everyone's book sales will slow down, but I have this fear that I'll check my sales every couple of weeks to find that nobody cares about reading my books anymore. The dreaded 0 will show on my Kindle sales, and I will plummet into a pit of despair. It hasn't happened yet, but Game On has onl...
