Dust It Off Part 2 - The Excerpt

It's the weekend! I don't usually do a Saturday post, but it's round two of the Dust It Off bloghop, hosted by Cortney Pearson and Theresa Paolo, so here I am!

For those who don't know, here is a description of the hop: We've all had those manuscripts that we poured our heart into, fell in love with the characters and still think of them at random, but unfortunately had to shelf. Now it's time for a little spring cleaning. Take out those manuscripts and Dust It Off!

On Thursday, I pitched a WIP I worked on many years ago with the awesome Clare Dugmore. Today, I will share one of my favourite excerpts from the story. :D This is from the perspective of Tori Henderson.

When we found a cab, Caitlin subtly climbed in so I could say goodnight to Danny.

It’s time I was in bed,” I told him, coyly leaning against the taxi door.

And I thought you were the type who could keep going all night,” Danny replied, looking me up and down without a hint of subtlety. Not that I minded. Knowing he wanted me was part of the fun.

We'd barely paused in flirting with each other all evening, and I’d stayed very close to him the whole time, revelling in the sexual tension that was mounting between us.

I never said I was going to sleep."

I watched as he weakened in front of my eyes, and his hands reached out to grab my waist, pulling me to him.

If you’re not gonna let me come home with you, you’re a very cruel woman." He ran a trail of soft kisses down my neck, making my legs buckle slightly. Most girls would run a mile if a guy attempted to ravish them in the middle of the street, up against a black cab, but I took it in my stride. Besides, I liked him, I wasn’t about to complain!

Hell girl, you’re flirting with a master here! I just about managed to regain control over myself though. “Not tonight baby.”

Danny let out a small groan of frustration. "How about a goodnight kiss?”

Rising up on my tiptoes, I tilted my head back slightly. “I’m not gonna say no to that.”

He lowered his head to kiss me, his lips meeting mine for the first time with a passion and intensity I  hadn't been prepared for.  If it was his intention to make me question my decision, it worked.

Oh boy, did it work!

Danny,” I began, trying to catch my breath, “I-”

You’ve changed your mind?”

I laughed, softly. “I never said no. I just said, not tonight.”

And how am I supposed to sleep now?” he asked, his blue eyes clouded with lust as he ran a hand slowly up and down my back.

By remembering” I said, pressing myself against him, “That anticipation is all part of the fun.”

And there you have it! Hope you have a great weekend!

    1. Yup! Danny prides himself on not getting attached to women, but Tori has something he can't resist!

  2. Why did you guys shelf this? Seriously! I loved the pitch and the excerpt did not disappoint at all! I love that she doesn't give in after the kiss and keeps the upper hand. I really hope you both think about giving this another go because I really want to read it.

It's here! WIP: The Movie!

I can't even tell you have excited I have been about this! It's early, so I have only got round to a few entries so far, but I am having a blast reading them all! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course, to my awesome co-host, Rachel ! It's time for me to introduce you to the characters from my - as yet untitled - WIP. When I first started this blog, my WIP was different, so this might confuse some of you (sorry about that!). This is Leah Walker, my MC. Technically, she is a little young, but she looks perfect! Leah is a physiotherapist for an American soccer team, but she is actually an English girl with a, let's say, colourful past. Radleigh McCoy is the ridiculously good-looking, not to mention exceptionally arrogant soccer player who challenges Leah in every way possible.  This is Freya Phillips. Freya is Leah's best friend and roommate. She works as a coach for the soccer team, and she is both very kind, and totally wild! Th...

IWSG: Books Sales

IWSG time! I'd like to start by thanking Alex J. Cavanaugh for this fab bloghop, and today in particular, it is just the motivation I need to get me blogging again! Today, I'm talking book sales. Now, I don't really know if there is any kind of "average" amount of books sales when you're an indie author. I don't know what is considered a good amount of book sales per month, or whether I am doing better or worse than others. What I do know, is that I am happy with the amount of books I've sold. I self-published because I want people to read my work - and people are reading it - yay! My concern is - what if the sales stop? I know after a time, everyone's book sales will slow down, but I have this fear that I'll check my sales every couple of weeks to find that nobody cares about reading my books anymore. The dreaded 0 will show on my Kindle sales, and I will plummet into a pit of despair. It hasn't happened yet, but Game On has onl...

Camp NaNo Update, and details

To begin with, I want to say thanks again to Emily for allowing me onto her blog as a blogging mentor! Being interviewed is always fun, and Emily is awesome! So, to Camp NaNo! Four days in and I'm still on track! Well, I will be when I finish today's writing. :D I mentioned a while ago that I was planning to battle boy POV, and I'm doing my best to get through it. However, it is hard, so I decided to turn my NaNo story into dual POV so it will be 50% less difficult! I'm not against cheating to get the work done. :p Just to give you a quick recap on what I'm doing for NaNo: In Game On, I have a young soccer player named Jesse Shaw, and he proved quite popular during the A-Z challenge. So, I decided he needed his own spin-off story! It's set at the end of the soccer season, when Jesse and his best friend go to London. I don't have a proper synopsis yet, but this is my guideline for now Soccer sensation Jesse Shaw literally has the world at his fee...
