1302 - The Alpha Blog Tour - Guest Post from Christine Rains

Hey everyone! Christine Rains is back with 1302 - The Alpha, and I guarantee it will be every bit as brilliant as 1301 - The Marquis! Today, Christine talks about the romance in the story - take it away, Christine!

1302 – The Alpha guest post for Kyra
By Christine Rains

STEFANIE AND JAMES

Pack life was all Stefanie Porter had ever known. When her parents passed away and left her as the Alpha werewolf of the Nicolet Pack, she could deal with it. Young as she was, she was strong. Until Wyatt showed up with his loyal dogs. He challenged Stefanie for leadership and won. She wasn't strong enough after all. When a wolf loses a fight for leadership, they're exiled from the pack's territory, but Wyatt wanted her to submit to him and become his mate. No way. Stefanie ran, and the pack began its hunt.

Lone wolves are rare because packs hunt and kill them. Yet it's much easier to hide when you don't have a scent to track. James Roberts may not be powerful, but he's clever and has a fondness for graphic novels. He uses his supernatural powers to help victims of crime. A superhero perched on top of a building, sniffing out evil-doers. No, he doesn't wear a mask or cape. Really, those things would just get in the way.

James helps Stefanie get away from her former pack one night. He's intrigued by her, and she wants to know his secret of being able to hide his scent. If she could do that, Wyatt and the other wolves wouldn't be able to track her. Not that Stefanie wants James to get involved in Wyatt's deadly game, but she has to risk it or spend the rest of her life running. James might be a bit geeky, but there's something about him that she finds hard to resist. As Stefanie gets to know him, it's no longer about using him to learn a new trick. She needs to protect the man she cares about from those that will certainly rip him to shreds.

Stefanie and James are one of my favorite couples. I twisted the usual werewolf relationship and made her the Alpha. She's the dominant one. Fierce, strong, and protective. Obviously James quite likes it! I think I'm a little in love with him. Smart, compassionate, and a superhero wannabe. He's proof geeks can be sexy.

Title: 1302 – The Alpha
Author: Christine Rains
Genre: paranormal romance
Release date: January 13th, 2013

One run in the woods wouldn't matter, or so thinks werewolf Stefanie Porter. Being cooped up in her apartment for months must have messed up her instincts, because her former pack almost catches her until a mysterious lone wolf jumps in to help Stefanie escape.

The cruel Alpha Wyatt not only stole her pack but refuses to give Stefanie her freedom. She can't hide in her apartment any longer or it will drive her crazy. She puts her trust in the lone wolf who can teach her some of his unusual urban survival tricks. James Roberts might be a bit geeky, but he's smart and looks hot when the argyle sweater comes off. His ridiculous ambition to become a superhero might be admirable if Wyatt couldn't rip him limb from limb.

With the pack scouring the city for her, Stefanie must convince James to teach her and control her own Alpha nature, or fight not only for her life, but his as well.

  9. It's great when we write characters we fall in love with. If only we could make them come to life, like in the Twilight Zone episode.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo...

GUTGAA Meet and Greet!

Oh, I have SO been looking forward to this!! But, before I start, I need to send a huge apology to Emily R.King and Melodie Wright. I signed up to their What I Did Last Summer Bloghop , but it looks like I'm not going to have the time to participate. :( I've never backed out of a bloghop before, but as you may have noticed, I've been kind of out of the blogging loop for a while and now I'm struggling to catch up! Please go and check out Emily and Melodie's hop, though - it's fun! :D NOW, onto GUTGAA! This amazing blogfest was put together by Deana Barnhart , and was designed to help writers in their quest to find an agent, plus help form connections between writers. The idea is genius and I am so excited to be a part of it! So, I am going to begin with the meet and greet questions, and I'll be hopping around to other blogs later! :D Bio : Kyra Lennon was born on the South coast of England, and to this day, still lives by the sea. IWSG: Am I doing it right? And does anyone care?

Happy IWSG Day! This genius idea created by Alex J. Cavanaugh is a place for all of us insecure writers to gather together to talk about our worries, and cheer each other on. Check out the full list of participants here ! Think right now about your favourite writers. How do you feel when you know they have a new book being released? It's usually something like, "HURRY UP, I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!" right? And also, think about when one of your super talented blog buddies announces they've got a book coming out soon. That is even more exciting because it's someone you know, someone you may have seen struggling to reach their goal of publication. Someone you've seen go through the rough times, and have finally made it to where they want to be. I can tell you that when Jolene Perry, or Nyrae Dawn announce a book release - I bounce up and down like a crazy person! These two awesome ladies are writers I absolutely adore for their ability to write so natural...
