The Truths About Dating and Mating by Jaycee DeLorenzo - Blog Tour

Okay - today I am so excited I could cry LOL! Jaycee DeLorenzo's Blog Tour is kicking off today, and I am thrilled to be the first stop! If you follow Jaycee's blog, no doubt you'll be familiar with her debut novel, The Truths About Dating and Mating - but if you want to know more - keep reading!

Here is Jaycee's guest post about what she is thankful for this year!

I have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving!
Hello!  Jaycee DeLorenzo, here, kicking off the first day of my blog tour.  The Truths about Dating and Mating, my debut novel, comes out the day before Thanksgiving, so I thought it was only right to start this all by listing some of the many things I’m thankful for:

1. I’m thankful to Kyra for hosting me today!  Kyra was one of the first bloggers I met after starting (or reviving) my blog.  I joined the WIP: The Movie blog hop – my first hop ever! – that she and Rachel Schieffelbein hosted, and I’ve met many awesome bloggers through that experience.  Plus, I won that contest, which was just the icing on the cake!  Since then, I’ve enjoyed reading Kyra’s posts and I’ve really loved her books. So, three cheers for Kyra!

2.  I’m thankful to everyone who signed up to host my virtual book tour. It always amazes me how supportive the blogging community can be and how wonderful writers can be about supporting other writers.  I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.

3. I’m thankful for my family’s understanding this past year.  I’ve been really wrapped up in edits all year long, and I appreciate them allowing me the time to get lost in my Riordan College universe for hours on end.

4.  I’m thankful for my CP Victoria Smith, who has helped push me into writing better this last year, been there to chat, laugh with and rant to.  She’s co-hosted many a blog hops with me, helped start NA Alley, sends me great texts (21 fun!) and put my first chapter up in her book.  You rock, girl!

5.  I’m thankful for anyone who has read my blog, especially my posts on The Truths about Dating and Mating, and given me the confidence to get my writing out there.  :D  Every time I’m feeling down on myself and my writing, I go back and read the comments people have written about the samples I’ve posted, and it makes me feel better.

6.  I’m thankful for everyone who has complimented me on my graphic designs and helped me turn it into a thriving business!

7.  I’m thankful to my NA Alley sisters for coming together and helping spread the word about New Adult!  You all are a bunch of wonderful ladies and I’m proud to be a member of such a great group blog!

8.  And while this is little premature, I’m thankful to anyone who plans to read my book, sends me a comment, leaves a review, or even just stops by to read my interviews on my tour.

The Truths about Dating and Mating
Author:  Jaycee DeLorenzo
Release Date:  November 21, 2012
Spunky Italian coed Ivy Rossini likes to talk and push the boundaries. She gets to do both as she co-hosts Riordan College’s radio program, The Truths about Dating and Mating, alongside her lifelong best friend, Ian Hollister.

Being the only girl who cares to see beyond Ian’s bad boy reputation has its advantages, especially when he’s scaring off the jerks who just want to nail the campus sex-guru. It’s when he’s “protecting” her from the advances she welcomes that she wants to lob him over the head and tell him to butt out. But Ivy’s feels like she’s the one who’s taken a hit when Ian almost kisses her at a party. She knows she should feel relieved when he pulls away, so why is she disappointed instead?

What’s worse, Ivy’s now getting aroused by Ian’s slightest touch and can’t stop entertaining thoughts of a romantic future. But Ian doesn’t do relationships, and she’s not interested in anything casual. In the end, Ivy decides it’s best to keep her growing feelings a secret and hope they’ll pass. However, when Ian begins hinting at wanting to take things to the next level, she’s forced to decide if a chance at something more is worth risking everything they’ve built.

With their friendship and her heart hanging in the balance, can Ivy follow the advice she and Ian give their listeners - to communicate, be honest, and trust in themselves - or will insecurity, stubbornness, and pride ruin any chance of their relationship getting off the ground?

By night, she’s a wife, mother, writer, cover artist, website designer, and blogger.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cooking, singing (very poorly), catching up on her favorite T.V. shows, and researching.
The Truths about Dating and Mating is Jaycee's debut novel, and the first in a series centering around students of the fictitious Riordan College.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

First Fight/First Kiss Blogfest

Yay, it's blogfest time! Many thanks to Danielle and Jackie for hosting! Here are the details: Share your 1 st FIGHT and 1 st KISS scenes in your MS’s or WIP’s. Crack open your current project or dive back into an old one. We want to feel what your characters feel. From the sting of their first fist-to-the-face to the tingling taste of their first kiss. Today is First Fight day, and I wanted to bring you a small excerpt from my NaNo novel which centres around Jesse Shaw, one of the characters from Game On. It's a bit rough, and a bit vague - mainly because I wrote it quickly, Jesse's voice still needs work, and this fight in full would be packed with spoilers, but hopefully it gives enough info to make sense!   Just to clear up a small thing - Georgia is Isabelle's twin sister. :)   ** “Izzy,” I said. “You know the right thing to do.” Isabelle looked down at me with those big brown eyes, and my insides twisted with guilt. Right away, I realised

IWSG: Am I doing it right? And does anyone care?

Happy IWSG Day! This genius idea created by Alex J. Cavanaugh is a place for all of us insecure writers to gather together to talk about our worries, and cheer each other on. Check out the full list of participants here ! Think right now about your favourite writers. How do you feel when you know they have a new book being released? It's usually something like, "HURRY UP, I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!" right? And also, think about when one of your super talented blog buddies announces they've got a book coming out soon. That is even more exciting because it's someone you know, someone you may have seen struggling to reach their goal of publication. Someone you've seen go through the rough times, and have finally made it to where they want to be. I can tell you that when Jolene Perry, or Nyrae Dawn announce a book release - I bounce up and down like a crazy person! These two awesome ladies are writers I absolutely adore for their ability to write so natural
