Today I'm here with the awesome Christine Rains as part of her blog tour for 1301 The Marquis! Anyone who has read Christine's previous works will know what a talented lady she is, so be excited, because this series is going to be amazing!
Christine's guest post:
1301 – MARC AND MAE
Life after Hell isn't exactly what Marc
thought it would be. He's fixing busted pipes in an apartment building and
making a nice groove in his recliner with the amount of television he watches.
There's a few gray hairs on his head and his pants are a little snug around the
waist. That could be from how much time he spends in a certain little coffee
shop. Great coffee, delicious pie, and the most beautiful dame on the planet.
Mae Hopkins has a few gray hairs herself,
but Marc can still make her blush when he compliments her. She's a woman who
has been around and seen a lot, and she wants to make a cozy safe haven for
other women in a city that's crumbling at its moral roots.
Marc and Mae aren't young folks just
starting out in life. The feelings they have for one another have been building
over several months. Their slow burning romance is forced to a boil when Mae's
life is put on the line. Marc can no longer silently admire her over the rim of
his cup. He must fight for her and likely lose his life in the process.
I thoroughly enjoyed writing about Marc and
Mae. Their love isn't the fast and furious passion seen in a lot of paranormal
romances. Theirs is deep and soulful. The base of their relationship is strong
having been built on friendship and mutual respect. When Marc's world turns to
chaos, Mae is the beacon in the storm. It's her strength and ability to see
good even in the roughest of people that gives him the courage to stand against
evil.
Marc kept coming back to the cafe for the
coffee, but he stayed for Mae.

Title: 1301 – The Marquis
Author: Christine Rains
Genre: paranormal romance
Release date: December 13th, 2012
Blurb:
Life
after Hell isn't more exciting than watching football and fixing a busted pipe.
Once a powerful demon, Marc enjoys his quiet existence and a good cup of
coffee. With big ambitions to gain his master's favor, a trickster demon named
Vetis shatters Marc's peace and vows to deliver Marc's head to the fires of
Hell. Not before he destroys everything Marc cares about, of course.
Marc's
power has diminished over the years. Heaven will never grant him absolution,
and he refuses to return to Hell. Running isn't an option. The city of Carmine
is his territory. It's also home to his favorite cafe owner, Mae Hopkins. The
dame has a lovely smile, but it's her heart and soul that shine bright.
While
his city burns and his love is captured, Marc must decide to surrender or let
hate and anger fuel him to become the fearsome beast he so loathes: The
Marquis. If the Marquis rises, Vetis can be defeated and Mae saved, but Marc
would be lost to his demon forever.

DeleteI think deep soulful love is the best. It's fun to watch unfold, and it seems to last longer. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I agree that the deep love is most rewarding. Peeling it like layers of an onion. Though that's not the most attractive of things!
DeleteI love Marc and Mae! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! They're the cute old married couple. :)
DeleteI'm loving the sound of Marc and Mae's relationship. You're right, most paranormal romances go the "fast and furious" route, so it'll be refreshing to see one develop at a much more steady pace!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It's one that's been long in the making. It's one of those cases where you want to yell at them to make a move already! *LOL*
