Back to reality

I was only away for two days, and it feels like a year!

London was fantastic, I only wish we'd been able to stay a few more days to really enjoy it! The reason for the trip was to see a charity gig by Russell Howard (British comedian) because I love him, and it was a great excuse to go to London! It kind of turned out a bit weirder than I was expecting though, because it was not just a Russell Howard gig. There was an enormous buzz in the theatre, and everyone seemed to be under the same impression that we would get an hour or two of his awesome stand-up routine. Ha. There were four other comedians on the bill, who each performed a twenty minute set, before Russell Howard appeared, and his set was also only twenty minutes long!

All in all, the show was great, BUT I didn't buy the tickets to see a bunch of other comedians, so it was kind of disappointing that we didn't get to see more of the person we paid to see. :(

Yesterday, we spent the day mostly in Covent Garden. It is absolutely made of awesome! It's full of quirky little shops and cafes, and I discovered the coolest shop EVER! Collectif is full of vintage clothing, mostly from the 50s era. It's like stepping into a time machine! The best thing about it is that the prices are incredible. I was expecting every item to be over the £100 mark, but mostly they were around £50, and some were even less. I have to go back there one day and have a longer look around!

So, now I am home again and it's back to work! I suspect that I will be spending most of the week writing articles instead of working on my WIP, but that's okay. A break will probably be a good thing. My bank balance is still screaming from my two days in London, so earning money is definitely what I need to do at the moment!

Hope you are all having a great week so far!

  1. Glad you liked London :)

Russell Howard is so funny, especially his "Russell Howard's Good News" TV show - well worth checking out online if you don't get it in the US.

And did you visit Charlie's Cookies (I think that's what it's called) while you were in Covent Garden? x

    1. Russell Howard's Good News is excellent :D

Damn, I didn't see Charlie's Cookies, but I found Candy Cupcakes and spent a ridiculous amount on them! I really hope I can eat them all before they expire LOL!

  2. What a shame the gig wasn't what you expected (and paid for). I'd be disappointed too but it sounds like the rest of your weekend was great.

    1. Yeah, overall it wasn't bad, just tiring! I could have used an extra day to relax instead of going up then coming right back the next day. :(

  3. Sounds like a nice weekend. I always enjoy vintage boutiques, I'll bet the clothes there were amazing ... Happy writing to you this week!

Yup, the clothes there are amazing, and so reasonably priced!

  4. Glad you had a nice time, even though you only got to see Russell Howard for 20 mins.

Covent Garden sounds awesome, as does that vintage shop you linked to. I'm very tempted to buy something from there.

Good luck with work. Hope you can make your bank balance smile again!

    1. Lol, bank balance is a little happier already! :D

Yeah, I will definitely be buying some stuff from that shop! Probably going to wait until I have shed the extra pounds I ate over the last few days LOL!

  5. That vintage shop sounds lovely. I haunt charity shops hoping to find genuine vintage stuff (I'm on a severe budget), but the only clothes people give away in my area are Primark!

Shame about the gig - I assume the other comedians were lesser known? I worry about his comedy tastes sometimes - his guests on Good News are not that good!

    1. Pahaha, same here!

Yeah, all the other comedians were friends of Russell Howard, and they were all funny but they weren't the reason I bought the tickets. :( I guess I'll just have to go and see him another time!

  6. That does suck about the show. Dude, I would've been all sorts of disappointed.

No wait! I'd be in London! ;)

Glad you are back and that you had an awesome time!

  8. Glad you had a good trip! I agree - it's so annoying when that happens. Shame you didn't get to see more of Russell.

  11. I would so love to be close enough to London to go for a two-day trip! I've been there twice, but never long enough to feel like I really got to see what I wanted.

I know what you mean though, about 'even if it's good, but it isn't what you expected..." disappointment. Still, though... trip to London!!!

  12. Sounds wonderful. I would love the vintage boutique shops. When I find cool vintage clothing boutiques (we don't have any here)I can shop four hours. It must be nice to be so close to London. For me, it would be the vacation of a lifetime and you can just hop over anytime. I'm jealous.

  13. Glad you had a good time! I'd be disappointed I didn't get to see the headliner longer, either. I've been to a couple concerts where that has happened. Always a bummer.

It's here! WIP: The Movie!

I can't even tell you have excited I have been about this! It's early, so I have only got round to a few entries so far, but I am having a blast reading them all! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course, to my awesome co-host, Rachel ! It's time for me to introduce you to the characters from my - as yet untitled - WIP. When I first started this blog, my WIP was different, so this might confuse some of you (sorry about that!). This is Leah Walker, my MC. Technically, she is a little young, but she looks perfect! Leah is a physiotherapist for an American soccer team, but she is actually an English girl with a, let's say, colourful past. Radleigh McCoy is the ridiculously good-looking, not to mention exceptionally arrogant soccer player who challenges Leah in every way possible.  This is Freya Phillips. Freya is Leah's best friend and roommate. She works as a coach for the soccer team, and she is both very kind, and totally wild! Th...

IWSG: Books Sales

IWSG time! I'd like to start by thanking Alex J. Cavanaugh for this fab bloghop, and today in particular, it is just the motivation I need to get me blogging again! Today, I'm talking book sales. Now, I don't really know if there is any kind of "average" amount of books sales when you're an indie author. I don't know what is considered a good amount of book sales per month, or whether I am doing better or worse than others. What I do know, is that I am happy with the amount of books I've sold. I self-published because I want people to read my work - and people are reading it - yay! My concern is - what if the sales stop? I know after a time, everyone's book sales will slow down, but I have this fear that I'll check my sales every couple of weeks to find that nobody cares about reading my books anymore. The dreaded 0 will show on my Kindle sales, and I will plummet into a pit of despair. It hasn't happened yet, but Game On has onl...

Camp NaNo Update, and details

To begin with, I want to say thanks again to Emily for allowing me onto her blog as a blogging mentor! Being interviewed is always fun, and Emily is awesome! So, to Camp NaNo! Four days in and I'm still on track! Well, I will be when I finish today's writing. :D I mentioned a while ago that I was planning to battle boy POV, and I'm doing my best to get through it. However, it is hard, so I decided to turn my NaNo story into dual POV so it will be 50% less difficult! I'm not against cheating to get the work done. :p Just to give you a quick recap on what I'm doing for NaNo: In Game On, I have a young soccer player named Jesse Shaw, and he proved quite popular during the A-Z challenge. So, I decided he needed his own spin-off story! It's set at the end of the soccer season, when Jesse and his best friend go to London. I don't have a proper synopsis yet, but this is my guideline for now Soccer sensation Jesse Shaw literally has the world at his fee...
