Bloghops, and publishing, and memes....oh my!

Good morning, everyone!

So, yesterday's "Is It Getting Hot In Here?" blogefest was huge amounts of fun! Much love to Hope and Cassie for organising it! All of those kissing scenes were perfect for Valentine's Day, and it was cool to read how everyone approached the kisses they wrote.

As a direct result of all of the incredible comments I received about mine (thanks again, everyone!!), I am considering self-publishing the story it came from. After all, it is complete, it just needs some editing. I have self-published a book of short stories before, so I know how it works for the most part, but this feels different. This book will be one that shows off the kind of writing I want to do. I intend to put it out for free, or at a very low price, mainly as a thank you to everyone who has been so incredibly supportive of my writing. There are still a lot of things I need to learn about self-publishing, but it's a really good feeling to know that I already (nearly!) have something I can show the world.

Finally, I was tagged again in the 11 Questions Meme by Clare Dugmore and Leigh Covington! I never tire of answering questions, so I'm gonna answer both sets of questions! However,I am not going to tag or make up new questions this time because I think everyone has done it by now. Of course, if you haven't and you want to, just choose 11 questions from here that you want to answer. It's always fun to learn more about everyone!

Questions from Clare

1. What is your earliest childhood memory? This question is hard! I think my earliest is from when I was around five years old, and my mum took me to London to visit my Nan. It might have been around Christmas, or my birthday, because I was given a really cute tea set, on a hostess trolley with pink trays.

2. Which do you prefer; tea or coffee? Depends how tired I am lol! I actually prefer coffee, but I can't drink too much of it because it makes me crazy!

3. What inspired you to become a writer? Books, I guess. I learned to read freakishly young, and I was always swept away by the stories and characters I was reading about. I always liked making up my own stories too, so I think that is where the inspiration came from.

4. Which of the four seasons do you prefer? Oh, the temptation to say Frankie Valli is strong!! Seriously though, my favourite season is winter. I love it.

5.Which fictional character are you most like? Ha, Bridget Jones!

6. What are you scared of? Being alone forever.

7. Do you believe in life on other planets? Yeah, I think so. It's nice to think that there are other beings out there, waiting to be discovered!

8. What is your favourite flower? I don't really like flowers, but if I had to pick, it would be roses.

9. What smell(s) do you love? Oh don't get me started, I could go on all day!! Clean clothes, new carpets, new books, shoe shops, the air after the rain.....seriously, I could keep going forever!

10. If you could live anywhere else in the world, where would you pick? Prague. Gorgeous city, full of history, great people and great food!

11. What movie do you love that everyone else hates? I can't really think of a movie I liked that everyone else hates, but I have seen some strange movies that most people have never heard of, like Tiptoes starring Gary Oldman. I love him, but that movie is ridiculous! On the plus side, it made me laugh so hard, I can't help but like it!

Questions from Leigh

1. What is your dream vacation? I would love to go to Los Angeles, spot celebrities, relax on the beach and shop!

2. Are you spontaneous or do you like to plan ahead? I think I am a healthy mix of the two. I plan ahead for some things, but I enjoy being spontaneous too!
3. Tell us one thing you want to do, but don't dare to do. (Unless of course, you dare to do everything!) Get a tattoo! Nothing too big or embarrassing, something tasteful. But I don't like pain lol.
4. What's your biggest phobia? Heights and spiders!
5. If you were stranded on a desert island - what 3 things would you want with you? (not including laptop, or family.) Wood, nails, and tools so I can build a boat and escape before I starve to death! :p
6. Name three blessings in your life. My family, my job, and having a decent place to live.
7. What was your nickname in High School? I didn't have one - very boring!
8. If you could meet the President of the United States, what would you say to him? Heh, did you see that video that was circling on the internet of him singing, "Let's Stay Together"? I'd ask him to sing to me, his voice is amazing! (Please note, I wouldn't ask him anything more serious because I don't live in the US, so I have no issues with him whatsoever ;) )
9. If you could be any literary character for a day, who would you be? I think I'd be Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter lol! She comes from an awesome family, goes to the best school ever, and dates lots of cute wizards! :D
10. What is your favorite quote? "I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not" - Kurt Cobain. I think it is always better to be yourself than put on an act to make people like you. :)
11. In the color code personality test, what color are you? (If you don't know, go HERE!)   Yellow :D

And there you have it! More about me than you ever needed to know lol!

    1. Thanks! It's a scary step, but it might be time to do it!

Haha, I love winter! I like snuggling up inside with a good book, and a mug of hot chocolate when it's freezing outside. :D

  2. I love winter too. But we've gotten absolutely no snow this winter, and it's been oddly warm, too. I miss the cold!

    1. I'd never seen this one before, it was a lot fun to do. Yellow seemed to describe me fairly well, so I think it works! :D

  4. Frankie Valley...you're a funny girl.

I'd self pub, but I'd probably get someone to edit it for me (I tend to miss so many of my own mistakes). My goal in this game isn't to get rich. It's to write. I enjoy it and I'd honestly do it for free (that's not my preference, but I think you get what I mean).

    1. I know exactly what you mean. I want to write, and I want people to enjoy my writing. Money would be an added bonus!

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

First Fight/First Kiss Blogfest

Yay, it's blogfest time! Many thanks to Danielle and Jackie for hosting! Here are the details: Share your 1 st FIGHT and 1 st KISS scenes in your MS’s or WIP’s. Crack open your current project or dive back into an old one. We want to feel what your characters feel. From the sting of their first fist-to-the-face to the tingling taste of their first kiss. Today is First Fight day, and I wanted to bring you a small excerpt from my NaNo novel which centres around Jesse Shaw, one of the characters from Game On. It's a bit rough, and a bit vague - mainly because I wrote it quickly, Jesse's voice still needs work, and this fight in full would be packed with spoilers, but hopefully it gives enough info to make sense!   Just to clear up a small thing - Georgia is Isabelle's twin sister. :)   ** “Izzy,” I said. “You know the right thing to do.” Isabelle looked down at me with those big brown eyes, and my insides twisted with guilt. Right away, I realised

IWSG: Am I doing it right? And does anyone care?

Happy IWSG Day! This genius idea created by Alex J. Cavanaugh is a place for all of us insecure writers to gather together to talk about our worries, and cheer each other on. Check out the full list of participants here ! Think right now about your favourite writers. How do you feel when you know they have a new book being released? It's usually something like, "HURRY UP, I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE!" right? And also, think about when one of your super talented blog buddies announces they've got a book coming out soon. That is even more exciting because it's someone you know, someone you may have seen struggling to reach their goal of publication. Someone you've seen go through the rough times, and have finally made it to where they want to be. I can tell you that when Jolene Perry, or Nyrae Dawn announce a book release - I bounce up and down like a crazy person! These two awesome ladies are writers I absolutely adore for their ability to write so natural
