WIP: The Movie Bloghop!

It's here!! Yay!

Almost all of us have imagined who would play the characters in our WIPs if they were ever made into a movie. On February 28th, we want you to “cast” your WIP, and post photos of the actors/actresses you would choose to play the characters in your latest manuscript. You don’t have to cast everyone if you don’t want to, just show us your MCs and tell us a little about them.

Also, we’d like you to tell us which songs you’d have on your WIP Movie soundtrack! This can be one song that fits the main theme of the story, or several songs that make you think of your story.

Rachel and I will each pick a winner at random, and we’re giving away one of our favourite books which were turned into movies!

 Rachel’s prizes
: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak + Choose one of Rachel’s ebooks.

My prizes: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky + Choose one of my ebooks OR an ARC of Game On Book 3.

Okay, so for my WIP: The Movie entry, I'm using - naturally - Game On Book 3, which is now officially titled Sidelined. (Also, thanks to all of you who have signed up for the cover reveal, if I haven't sent you the info yet, I will do so later today!)

Those of you who read Game On and are familiar with the series will know that the books are centred around a soccer team in LA. The next book in the series will be released next month, and the main character is Bree Collinson. Again, those of you who know the books will recognise her as being the bubbly, slightly ditzy wife of Jude Collinson, the Westberg Warriors' goalkeeper.

Meet Bree:

Technically, this is Maria Kanellis, former WWE Diva (yeah, I'm all about the wrestlers!), but for the purposes of this hop, she is my MC.

Bree is a happy, sweet, and somewhat random person, whose thoughts can tumble out of her mouth before she's really considered what she's saying. She's young, 21, and her husband is ten years older than her. This has led to some people thinking she only married Jude for his money. What they don't know is that Bree - although she has a love for shopping - would actually be happy living in a one bedroom apartment, as long as she had Jude by her side.

If you read Game On and you found Bree a little bit... high maintenance, and possibly annoying, you'll see a very different side to her in Sidelined. She has a horrible backstory, and she goes through something of a crisis about what she wants to do with her life during the story. It results  in her making some bad choices, and potentially ruining her friendships with the people she cares about the most.

Meet Jude:

This is Robert Hoffman., I genuinely have no idea who this guy is, but I found him on Pinterest, and knew he was the guy for the job!

You could ALMOST say Jude is one of the antagonists in Sidelined. He's actually a really good guy, but in Bree's mind, he is trying to keep her chained to him, and not let her do what she wants to do. He's very protective of her due to the circumstances in which they met - but he would also do absolutely anything for her. There is nothing she needs that he hasn't given her, and he would pretty much walk to the ends of the earth and back if she asked him to. Not that she would, because she doesn't like being alone!

I couldn't think of the right song to sum up the book as a whole, so I thought I would do with this retro video which pretty much sums up Bree's general philosophy for life:

So there you have it! Sidelined, movie style!

Don't forget to check out the other participants:

  1. Great choices! I also have to say that I approve of the character name Jude, though this much is obvious considering my oldest son is named Jude.

    Thanks for co-hosting this!

  2. Okay, so I've actually picturing Bree as a blonde all this time - in fact, I see her as Bernadette from Big Bang Theory, without the annoying voice. Not sure I want to change that image!

Listening to the song right now, and it's working!

  3. What a fun blog hop!
Love your choices - they're gorgeous!

  4. Great post, especially the retro video at the end. I hope the Diva doesn't take offense to that. ;) Thank you for putting together this great hop. I can't wait to see what others are sharing.

  5. Thanks for doing the blog hop.

I definitely would call WWE wrestlers actors, because that's just what they do. Along with a little wrestling. :)

  6. I wouldn't even know who to pick for mine!
The blogfest is all over this morning - congratulations on so many participants.

  7. Great choices! And how funny that we both have a Bree for this? :)

  8. I love how you found the guy on Pinterest! I love that site for finding random people who look like my characters :) Great picks!

  9. Super cute! And how funny about Jude. i don't who the actor is that I picked either. Funny how some just fit the bill.
    Thanks for the fun blogfest!

  10. she looks high maintenance! glad she transforms in Sidelined! and he looks like a guy to change for! thanks for bringing this hop back!

    have a great weekend!

  11. Hello Jude! I don't know who that guy is either, but yes, delicious!

  12. I like your choices. Many of my images for characters are people whom I have no idea who they are. But they look the part...thank you pinterest, lol.

  13. What a handsome man! Sounds like a great read!

  14. Great choices! Thank you for hosting this bloghop--I had a lot of fun!

  15. Your guy is adorable. I pictured Bree differently, but you would know, your the author. haha.

  16. Pretty, pretty people! Thanks for co-hosting this bloghop. I've enjoyed scoping out everyone's casts!

  17. Oh, this sounds like a really interesting dynamic. I like when couples can be at odds but still be totally crazy about each other. Excellent casting.

    Thanks for hosting the hop!

  18. That's a fantastic song choice! I love it!!

  19. I know that guy! I mean he's in the movie "She's the Man" with Amanda Bynes. He's the obnoxious ex-boyfriend. (Hilarious movie!)

I like your choices and I can't wait to read the 3rd book! Thanks for hosting this!

  20. I love Judy Garland. Fantastic song choice.

I just found out about this hop in the late morning while I was at work so I'm late to the party but this is very cool, thank you for hosting it.

  21. The actress for Bree is beautiful. I love the back story and plot and definitely want to know more. Cool post Kyra.

  22. I love Robert Hoffman--I can totally see him playing Jude perfectly. And he would definitely make a hot couple with your Bree (who is STUNNING). Excellent casting! Thanks for hosting, Krya :)

  23. Oh, you did a me - you plucked a face from SM to use, not know who they are. Several of mine are random. Bree and Luke look good together and she sounds like a great pal to have. Happy feet.
