Who loves cats?

My next couple of posts are cover reveals and book launches, so I thought I should check in with you guys to let you know why I've been so quiet!

As usual - work. I probably don't even need to explain that at this point!

But also, I have been doing some charity work for Cats Protection, and I LOVE it. I love cats, and I love the charity, and I love the volunteers. It's just really, really nice to do something different.

I know there are a ton of cat lovers here in the blogosphere but I was wondering if any of you would be interested in helping me put together a cat anthology to help raise money for my local branch. Nothing is settled, and I realise this is quite an unusual ask, but it's a fun way to raise money AND it's a way for you to reach an audience you might not have reached before - as I will add author bios and website/blog links so if people like what you do, they can look you up.

I was thinking maybe cat poetry, short stories about cats, short stories that just have a cat in them, or maybe even some funny stories about your own cats.

This is the link to our branch website - take a look around, and let me know if you think this is something you'd be interested in! :D

  1. I love cats, I never knew I was a cat person until I got my cat, Misty, last year. I might be able to whip something up for an anthology, I've got a couple of pieces involving cats in mind already :)

  2. Writing about cats... Hmm, I'm not sure have the right style. Do they - you know - have to be alive at the end??

  3. I'm laughing at Annalisa's comment. Too funny!

And though I'm more a dog person, I do have two cats that I love very much. I wrote a short story a while back that featured all my animals and the mouse that had the misfortune wander into the picture. I can send it to you, if you'd like, and you can see if it's something you could use or want to use.

  4. Annalisa, that's hilarious!!!!!
I'm more of a dog person, but I do love all animals. Once you have the details, let me know and I'll add it to the Ninja News.

  5. Love cats, my daughter has actually been involved with helping out at the Cats Protection shelter. Problem was she wanted to bring them all home with her! Haven't got anything with cats in particularly but will give it some thought and see if I can come up with anything. Great idea, Kyra.

      Thanks, Suzanne!

  7. I am totally a cat girl over here.

I have a depressing poem I wrote about my cat after she died, but that might be too depressing. ;)

I'd like to be involved - not sure what I would write, though. Maybe a new short story.

I might have old stories that have cats. I'd have to check.

  8. I have a cat poem my daughter Faith wrote that would be awesome for the anthology. It's called The Lion in the Window. Cause that's what my cat thinks she is, LOL. Let me know what to do and I'll gladly help.

  9. I've never been much of a cat person, (sorry!) but our new kitten has kind of stolen my heart! She got attacked by a stray Tom who clawed through a screen to get into our house a couple nights ago. Thankfully we were still awake and heard the ruckus and were able to break it up! The kitten, Hex, will be fine, but she's had a rough couple of days. We've had to syringe feed her because she can't lift her head due to swelling. She's been so sweet through all of it, purring every time we come in to check on her or feed her. She's a doll. :) I'll help out if I can!

    1. Aww, poor little thing! It's okay, I never used to be a cat person, either!

  10. What a fun idea, but I probably wouldn't have anything to contribute. I'm more of a dog person, and although I like cats, we've never had one and probably never will. (Since my husband is also a dog person)

I love the funny cat pictures you see on the internet though.

That's really cool what you're doing.

  11. Terrific idea! :) I miss having cats around, but my hubby is allergic. Have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Aww :( I would be sad if I couldn't have a cat anymore!

Hope you have a great weekend too!

  12. I'd be up for this! I like this sort of challenge. It's awesome what you're doing. All our dogs are rescue dogs, and I have written a few stories featuring dogs. I was always more of a cat person, but like Christine's hubby, my wife is allergic to them! I like both now, but I grew up with a cat. I'll see what I can come up with!

It's here! WIP: The Movie!

I can't even tell you have excited I have been about this! It's early, so I have only got round to a few entries so far, but I am having a blast reading them all! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course, to my awesome co-host, Rachel ! It's time for me to introduce you to the characters from my - as yet untitled - WIP. When I first started this blog, my WIP was different, so this might confuse some of you (sorry about that!). This is Leah Walker, my MC. Technically, she is a little young, but she looks perfect! Leah is a physiotherapist for an American soccer team, but she is actually an English girl with a, let's say, colourful past. Radleigh McCoy is the ridiculously good-looking, not to mention exceptionally arrogant soccer player who challenges Leah in every way possible.  This is Freya Phillips. Freya is Leah's best friend and roommate. She works as a coach for the soccer team, and she is both very kind, and totally wild! Th...

IWSG: Books Sales

IWSG time! I'd like to start by thanking Alex J. Cavanaugh for this fab bloghop, and today in particular, it is just the motivation I need to get me blogging again! Today, I'm talking book sales. Now, I don't really know if there is any kind of "average" amount of books sales when you're an indie author. I don't know what is considered a good amount of book sales per month, or whether I am doing better or worse than others. What I do know, is that I am happy with the amount of books I've sold. I self-published because I want people to read my work - and people are reading it - yay! My concern is - what if the sales stop? I know after a time, everyone's book sales will slow down, but I have this fear that I'll check my sales every couple of weeks to find that nobody cares about reading my books anymore. The dreaded 0 will show on my Kindle sales, and I will plummet into a pit of despair. It hasn't happened yet, but Game On has onl...

Camp NaNo Update, and details

To begin with, I want to say thanks again to Emily for allowing me onto her blog as a blogging mentor! Being interviewed is always fun, and Emily is awesome! So, to Camp NaNo! Four days in and I'm still on track! Well, I will be when I finish today's writing. :D I mentioned a while ago that I was planning to battle boy POV, and I'm doing my best to get through it. However, it is hard, so I decided to turn my NaNo story into dual POV so it will be 50% less difficult! I'm not against cheating to get the work done. :p Just to give you a quick recap on what I'm doing for NaNo: In Game On, I have a young soccer player named Jesse Shaw, and he proved quite popular during the A-Z challenge. So, I decided he needed his own spin-off story! It's set at the end of the soccer season, when Jesse and his best friend go to London. I don't have a proper synopsis yet, but this is my guideline for now Soccer sensation Jesse Shaw literally has the world at his fee...
