More Cat Talk!

Hey guys!

So, last week I posted about the possibility of creating an anthology to raise money for my local branch of Cats Protection. I think there has been enough interest to go ahead with it so I am going to add a sign up list at the bottom of this post for those who want to be involved.

Deciding what kind of things to put in the book is a challenge, because the majority of us don't usually write about cats lol. However, I think it might work if we stick to some simple rules:

The story MUST have a cat in it (obviously :p )

You can write a story within your usual genre - even if it's a sci-fi cat, or a paranormal cat, or a love story that has a cat in it

You can write a poem if you prefer

I won't be putting an official word count limit on this, because I don't know how many entries we'll have - I suspect it won't be huge amounts  - but obviously, novel length fiction is no good. Let's call it an absolute maximum of 10,000 words, but I will have a better idea about this when I find out how many people want to take part.

When I have the final number of people who want to be involved, I will post further information, but as a rough guideline, I plan to gather the entries in the next 8-10 weeks.

Thank you so much for your help with this!

  2. I wrote a poem about my cat back when I was, like, seven years old. It was a school project and was published in the local paper. My mother still has it hanging on a wall.

I think you already have my submission (if, again, it's something you want to use), but let me know if you need me to re-submitt or whatever.

  3. Hahaha… this is awesome. Will you hate me if I tell you I'm not an animal lover??? ;)

Also, thank you for your super kind words on my blog today. They mean a lot. <3

  4. Aww, that's very sweet. Have you seen that Friskies spot "Dear Kitten" I feel like there are so many riffs you could do on it to publicize your anthology.

  5. I've never written anything about a kitten/cat before, but I think it's a really great cause! :)

  6. I think this is a great idea and I would love to be involved but can't commit for sure at the moment due to a few other things I am working on. However, I see you don't need things till after the summer so I may be able to submit something - possibly a children's story if that would fit in. I'll give it some thought and if I come up with an idea I'll add to the linky.

  7. Exciting! I already have my idea brewing, although I'm not sure if it'll be a massively long piece. However, I'll spread the word because I hope you have many entries! :)

IWSG: Books Sales

IWSG time! I'd like to start by thanking Alex J. Cavanaugh for this fab bloghop, and today in particular, it is just the motivation I need to get me blogging again! Today, I'm talking book sales. Now, I don't really know if there is any kind of "average" amount of books sales when you're an indie author. I don't know what is considered a good amount of book sales per month, or whether I am doing better or worse than others. What I do know, is that I am happy with the amount of books I've sold. I self-published because I want people to read my work - and people are reading it - yay! My concern is - what if the sales stop? I know after a time, everyone's book sales will slow down, but I have this fear that I'll check my sales every couple of weeks to find that nobody cares about reading my books anymore. The dreaded 0 will show on my Kindle sales, and I will plummet into a pit of despair. It hasn't happened yet, but Game On has onl...

It's here! WIP: The Movie!

I can't even tell you have excited I have been about this! It's early, so I have only got round to a few entries so far, but I am having a blast reading them all! Thanks to all who have participated, and of course, to my awesome co-host, Rachel ! It's time for me to introduce you to the characters from my - as yet untitled - WIP. When I first started this blog, my WIP was different, so this might confuse some of you (sorry about that!). This is Leah Walker, my MC. Technically, she is a little young, but she looks perfect! Leah is a physiotherapist for an American soccer team, but she is actually an English girl with a, let's say, colourful past. Radleigh McCoy is the ridiculously good-looking, not to mention exceptionally arrogant soccer player who challenges Leah in every way possible.  This is Freya Phillips. Freya is Leah's best friend and roommate. She works as a coach for the soccer team, and she is both very kind, and totally wild! Th...

GUTGAA Meet and Greet!

Oh, I have SO been looking forward to this!! But, before I start, I need to send a huge apology to Emily R.King and Melodie Wright. I signed up to their What I Did Last Summer Bloghop , but it looks like I'm not going to have the time to participate. :( I've never backed out of a bloghop before, but as you may have noticed, I've been kind of out of the blogging loop for a while and now I'm struggling to catch up! Please go and check out Emily and Melodie's hop, though - it's fun! :D NOW, onto GUTGAA! This amazing blogfest was put together by Deana Barnhart , and was designed to help writers in their quest to find an agent, plus help form connections between writers. The idea is genius and I am so excited to be a part of it! So, I am going to begin with the meet and greet questions, and I'll be hopping around to other blogs later! :D Bio : Kyra Lennon was born on the South coast of England, and to this day, still lives by the sea.
