IWSG: NaNo Concerns

The Insecure Writer Support Group is brought to you by the wonderful Alex J.Cavanaugh , and unites writers once a month to share their insecurities! I want to start with an apology for being way behind with replying to blog comments. I am SO busy, you wouldn't believe and it's taking me away from ... well ... everything fun. But I am reading, I still love you all, and if you stick with me, I will be back to normal soon (hopefully!) Also, this being busy thing means I won't get to as many blogs today as I'd like - but I will do the best I can. :D So, my insecurity this month is all about NaNo! I'm off to a decent start, and I'm actually a day ahead of myself word count-wise. But my biggest fear is that I'll waste this whole month writing something that is absolute crap. I suppose everything is salvageable if you put the time in, but right now, I'm looking at what I've written and thinking ... meh. I don't want to bust my butt writing someth...

Thankful Bloghop!

Good morning! Today I'm here as part of the "I'm Thankful for ..." bloghop, hosted by Tara Tyler and VikLit ! With Thanksgiving approaching, now is a good time to show appreciation for everyone who has supported us! I could probably go on all day about the people I am most thankful for. You see, pinning it down to individuals is difficult because every one of you who has been here reading my blog have supported me in one way or another since my first post back in January. However, I do have a few extra special thank yous to give out - so ... here we go! Clare Dugmore - I probably don't say thank you enough for everything you have to put up with from me LOL! You are always there, offering an extra pair of hands when I begin to drown in too many tasks, and you don't hesitate to offer me a place to vent when my thoughts tangle up inside my head. I would also laugh a whole lot less without you in my life. Whether we're talking about writing, wrest...

Brief NaNo Update

The challenge of NaNo was never going to be easy for me. I'm not brilliant with deadlines, pressure stresses me out, and I'm attempting to write a novel that sounded good in my head, but isn't coming out quite the way I planned! That said, I am very pleased that I'm meeting the daily word count goals, and staying on track. Word warring with Clare Dugmore is pretty much the only thing that is getting me through, though - thanks Clare! :D Last night, I was happily writing away and I got jolted out of my work by this idea that my novella, If I Let You Go, needs a sequel. This irritated me on many levels because while I have been asked about it, I wasn't sure I had anything else to give. However, Madison, Dominic and Tilly are screaming at me to write some more and so I may have to do something about it quite soon. But not in the middle of NaNo. Unless I can write 50K over two stories lol, but maybe that's cheating! How is NaNo going for you guys?

The Year I Turned 18 Blogfest

So, today I am taking part on Cally Jackson's bloghop, The Year I Turned 18, to celebrate the release of her novel, The Big Smoke! Well ... the year I turned 18 was full of ups and downs, though I still remember it as one of the best years ever! I really embraced the magic of the age, feeling like I could do anything I wanted, and what I wanted was fun. I had an incredible group of friends, and every Friday night, we went to our local pub for karaoke! It was always part karaoke, part disco and the landlord of the pub was amazing. All he wanted was for everyone to have fun, and if that meant dancing on the tables, so be it! He even purposely put an extension on the karaoke room so there would be more room to dance, and there were tables set up at the side specifically for dancing! The lead up to my 18th was an interesting one. I got involved in a relationship with a guy much older than me and he was ... well ... not good for me. Without going in to too many details, I...

Are Virgins the New Vampires?

Hey guys! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your support yesterday. I'd been so down for so long, it was a relief to get it out of my head, and your kind words made all the difference. Your comments shifted me right out of my misery, and I am just about raring to get moving again! Before you all think I totally forgot, it's time for me to announce the winner of the Letting Go Bloghop! Every single entry was superb, and I had such a hard time choosing a winner, I just gave the entries to my mum to read lol! Bless her, she sat down yesterday afternoon and read every single one. She was just as impressed as I was but after much deliberation, she picked her winner so ... everyone please give a huge congratulations to Scribbles From Jenn ! I will be in touch very soon about your prize! Thanks to everyone who participated - you were all amazing! And now, it's time for that thing everyone is talking about! Yup, it's NaNo! It starts tomorrow and a huge spanner ...
