Nerd Hop!

In honour of the release of Cassie Mae's How To Date A Nerd (which is awesome, btw), Cassie is holding a bloghop to celebrate all things nerdy! There is only one question: What is the nerdiest thing about you?

When I first heard about this hop, I posted a message on Cassie's Facebook page, saying "I'm not sure I'm that nerdy." Then reeled off a list of everything about me that IS nerdy. I was a little surprised lol!

I am a MASSIVE Harry Potter fan, and I think this is where the majority of my nerdiness is. I've read the books many times, and I own all of the movies (even though they are less than perfect!). I used to be an active member of a Harry Potter forum, and I could debate whether Snape was good or evil with the best of them! I enjoyed thinking up theories about how the books would play out, and I could quote passages off the top of my head. (I'm a little rusty now though!). When I was about 18, my boyfriend at the time bought me a Harry Potter bedroom set which consisted of a waste paper bin, and a lampshade which had glow in the dark snitches on. So, even though I was an adult, I had the bedroom decor of an eleven year old boy lol! I also have a proper Hermione Granger wand, a collection of Harry Potter playing cards and a Hedwig backpack!

Yeah. I'm nerdier than I thought! :p

  1. It's okay to be an adult with Harry Potter decor! I have a couple of Harry Potter clocks, and I still snuggle up with my Harry Potter blankets.

  2. I was about to say I'm not nerdy either, but then I remembered my Dr Who addiction... so maybe. Also, I'm really loving watching the SyFy repeats of Star Trek: TNG.

You were a big HP nerd though - I couldn't compete with that :-p

  3. That's one cool boyfriend. I'm a Harry Potter Fan too and who doesn't want to debate Snape?

  4. Hey, I have a Hermione wand, too. And all of the movies (including two copies of the first one because of that whole sorcerer's stone/philosopher's stone difference) and multiple versions of the complete series (American, British, French, and Russian).

And I, too, love(d) to debate Snape.

  5. This was a fun post. The thing I'm most nerdy about is Red Dwarf. When I was a kid, I could pretty much recite every episode, had many t-shirts, was in the fan club and had letters printed in their magazine. I would have written fanfic, but didn't think I was good enough!

  7. Haha. My daughter LOVES Gilderoy Lockhart and at one point her room looked like an altar to his character, lol.

  8. It's one thing to have an opinion on the morals and motivations of the characters, it's a whole other thing to debate them in a public forum. Definitely pushed you over the nerd wall. Awesome.

  9. That's so cool! I'd love bedroom decor like that. Maybe Severus on my pillowcase. Mmmm...

  10. I'm a massive Harry Potter fan too and will soon reread the entire series. Again.

I love to blog on the science of Harry Potter. So much of the magic actually has a scientific basis and explanation.

  11. I am a big fan of Harry Potter, though I wouldn't say MASSIVE. LOL! But I would love to have a Hermione Grander wand! She was my favorite character. :D

I am quite a nerd too, and I reveal the nerdiest thing about me on my blog. ;)

WiP: The Movie Blogfest

Since I've been blogging, the fun of blogfests has helped me meet some awesome new people and also helped me to learn a lot of things I would have otherwise missed out on. I love reading snippets of everyone's work, and getting to know each individual writer's style and genre. With that in mind, I would like to announce a brand new blogfest which I am co-hosting with Rachel at Writing On The Wall !     WiP: The Movie - March 9th Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to post a photo of the actors or actresses you would like to play the characters in your WiP if it were to be made into a movie. It can be just one character, or the entire cast! Secondly, we want you to soundtrack your movie! Head over to YouTube, and post a song that best describes one of your characters, or your story as a whole. Again, you can pick one song, or several, it's entirely up to you!
