Q is for Question

My A-Z Theme is based on my books, the Game On series. You won’t need to have read them to follow this story, since it’s slightly removed from the full plot, like a side story. What it will do is give you a glimpse into my characters, and a chance to get to know them a little bit, PLUS, during the story, you will get a mini tour of parts of the UK! The posts will come from two of my main characters, Leah Walker and Radleigh McCoy.  If this is your first time here, please start at the letter A. :D

Q - Question
(Radleigh)

“You know what’s weird?” I asked, after I’d stuffed myself with scones and covered in all kinds of unhealthy crap I’d need to work off at the gym later. Ah, who was I kidding? Leah was keeping me fit enough with long walks and… other things.

Leah tore her gaze from sea view out the window. “What?”

“We haven’t had one single fight since I’ve been here.”

She chuckled. “Give it time. We’ve been pretty busy doing things we both agree on so far.”

Leah reached over for my hand, and I shuffled my chair a little closer to hers. “I’m serious, Leah. We never used to manage to get through a conversation without fighting.”

“This is something that’s bothering you?” she asked, shooting me a puzzled look.

“It’s not bothering me, but it’s strange.”

Leah and I fought over everything before. Even while we were trying to figure out where we stood with each other, we argued. True,  I was on my best behaviour because I wanted her to come back to L.A with me, but there hadn’t been a moment when I’d had to stop myself saying something to set her off.

Oh. It was me that was different.

I hold my hands up. I was the one who provoked Leah a lot of the time, because she’s hot as hell when she’s mad. Actually, she’s hot all the time, but when she’s mad, her words become more clipped, more British, and around fifty times dirtier than usual. That was part of why I loved her. Not the filthy language, but the fire in her eyes when she fought for something important to her. Her passion.

“I don’t think we need to question why,” Leah said, leaning over to kiss me. “The answer’s obvious. Before, we weren’t happy with where we were with each other. Now we are.”

“Do you miss it?”

“What?” Leah laughed. “Always being ready to strangle you? No. I don’t miss that. Do you?”

“No. Not really. But,” I added, lifting her hand to my lips and planting a kiss on her knuckles, “When we do fight, I will always enjoy making up with you.”

Today's teaser comes from the latest book in the Game On Series, Sidelined.

Blurb: At the age of twenty-one, Bree Collinson has more than she ever dreamed of. A handsome husband, a fancy house, and more shoes than Carrie Bradshaw and Imelda Marcos combined. But having everything handed to her isn’t the way Bree wants to live the rest of her life. When an idea to better herself pops into her head, she doesn’t expect her husband to question her, and keep her tied by her apron strings to the kitchen.

Isolated and unsure who to turn to, Bree finds herself falling back into a dangerous friendship, and developing feelings for the only person who really listens to her. Torn between her loyalty to her husband and her attraction to a man who has the perfect family she always wanted, she has some tough choices to make.

While Bree tries to figure out what she wants, a tragedy rocks the Westberg Warriors, triggering some dark memories, and pushing her to take a look at what’s really important.

  1. Making up is definitely the best part about fighting. :)

  2. My favorite paragraph is the one where he describes why he loves to fight with her. You are magnificent in bringing out your characters feelings, and your descriptions are perfect!

  3. That's right, making up is the fun part! But rather not fight at all.

  4. I love reading (and writing) about couples fighting...and then making up.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
