H is for Harbour

My A-Z Theme is based on my books, the Game On series. You won’t need to have read them to follow this story, since it’s slightly removed from the full plot, like a side story. What it will do is give you a glimpse into my characters, and a chance to get to know them a little bit, PLUS, during the story, you will get a mini tour of parts of the UK! The posts will come from two of my main characters, Leah Walker and Radleigh McCoy.  If this is your first time here, please start at the letter A. :D

H- Harbour
(Radleigh)

The rain stopped. After spending an entire day in bed with Leah, neither of us really wanted to get up, but we needed… supplies, and since the weather was better, she finally got to take me to St. Ives.

I held Leah’s hand as she led me down the cobbled streets of the town, pulling me excitedly into shops, and insisting I tried a Cornish pasty – not bad, actually. It was cute to see her like that. I knew Cornwall held some bad memories for her, but St. Ives was different. A different town to the one she grew up in. She obviously loved it there, and I… yeah, I fell a little bit more in love with her, seeing her eyes light up as she explained how much time she’d spent there, and how she and her brother always used to spend their pocket money on trying out all the different ice cream flavours from the shops that lined the harbour.

St. Ives Harbour is really something to see. It’s so peaceful, but there’s so much to look at. So many boats, and people.

I could see why Leah loved it so much.

“So, what do you think?” Leah asked, as we leaned against the stone wall, looking out onto the sea.
I smiled down at her. “It’s really great. I’ve never been anywhere like this before. And I really love that I don’t get recognised here.”

Leah laughed. “So, St. Ives might make a nice bolt hole if things get too much back in L.A?”

“Yeah. I think so.”

She sighed as she watched the waves. “I know there are a lot of places in the world, but I don’t think there’s anywhere else I feel as relaxed as when I’m here. I wish I could pack it up and take it to America with me.”

Leah looked up at me, giving a small gasp as she realised what she’d said, and it made me laugh. “Leah, did you just agree to move back with me?”

“No.” She tried to stay serious, but her face broke into a grin. “No promises yet, okay? We said we wouldn’t put any pressure on each other for this two weeks. And so far, we haven’t killed each other.”

I reached out and rested my hands on Leah’s waist. “It’s only been a couple days and yesterday we didn’t do a whole lot of talking.”

Her cheeks flushed a little, probably at the reminder of the things we got up to. I think she may have even surprised herself – she sure surprised the hell out of me.

“I love you,” she said. “But let’s not rush anything for now.”

“No rushing,” I promised, then pressed my lips against hers. “I love you too.”

  1. Quick reminder to poke me with a sharp stick if I don't come back and read all of these posts soon...and comment! On them all! Make it a very pointy stick.

    1. Lol, I do love the dynamic between these two. They're both obviously desperate to be together all the time, but Leah is still so cautious - and rightly so, I guess!

  3. They're so sweet! I do wonder what sort of supplies they had to pick up. Heh.

  4. Oh my! It does seem like they're enjoying themselves. Otherwise they wouldn't be needing . . . supplies. Love it!

    1. Ha! I'm trying to keep this clean while still being true to the characters - this is a challenge all by itself!

  5. That's a lovely scene - I love how Leah lets slip that she wants to pack up Cornwall and take it with her to the US. I can so imagine that kind of conversation happening in real life - it's a lovely scene.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
