Bloggy Burnout

Hey peeps!

I know it's been a while, but I needed to take a little time out to decide what I wanted to do, and say, before putting this post together.

Since... well, probably just after Christmas, I've been finding blogging harder and harder to keep up with. It's not because I don't enjoy it anymore, I still love connecting with everyone, sharing good news and helping to pick people up on the bad days. But the pressure I put on myself to comment on every blog post and reply to every comment has zapped some of the enthusiasm.

In reality, I know you all understand. It's hard to keep up with everything, and if some of you don't comment on all of my posts, that's fine with me. I don't think it means you like me any less, it just means real life has taken over. But in my head, I think, "If I stop blogging, everyone will forget me, my book sales will dry up, and when I get back to it, it will be like starting all over again." Some of that might be true. Out of sight, out of mind, and all that. But I will be way more prepared to start afresh if I've had a lengthy time out to focus on things I need to do for me. Namely finishing my next book, and spending some time in the real world.

So, I am going to be quiet for a while, and hopefully this time to recharge will give me a chance to get that new book ready for anyone who is still interested when I get back! :p You will find me around on Facebook and Twitter, and occasionally on my entertainment blog here (I have some events coming up!) http://starshinenews.blogspot.co.uk/

Take care, kids, and feel free to drop me an email if anything awesome occurs!

  6. Honey, anyone who forgets you or doesn't understand you need some time out, doesn't deserve your time anyway.

Enjoy your rest, time away from blogging, and chance to finish your book. Good luck with it, and you know where to find me if you need anything.

    Love you. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  8. I totally understand, I have been sporadic due to other commitments, but we are just getting to a point where things are settling into some sort of routine. It's hard. Wishing you all the best with your time out, and I'm very interested in reading that book! We all need time to breathe sometimes.

  9. I'm with you. I'm going on modified blog hiatus for the next couple of months, so I can finish my WIP while the kids are still in school. Have fun! :)

  10. Blogging isn't essential for book sales, as long as you're on Facebook or connect with readers in some other fashion.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
