Game On Blog Tour Day 2 - Plus Monsters!

Holy crap, guys! Yesterday's blog tour launch was so much bigger than I expected! Thank you so much for making the first day so brilliant!

Just want to add a quick note to say that I will do my absolute best to visit your blogs as normal, but I am having to reply to three times the amount of comments on my blog and others' than I'm used to - which is fab - but slowing me down a little lol. So if you don't see me, I promise I am reading, even if I don't have time to reply to everything, sorry!
Today on the tour you will find me here:

I will be with the amazing Leigh Covington, to answer some questions she had for me about Game On. Leigh is one of my favourite blog buddies, and was my CP when I was getting the book ready for publication!

Elizabeth Seckman is another CP of mine, and I was thrilled to have someone with such talent looking over my work! You can find out about one of the more glaring errors she spotted, plus read her fabulous review by clicking here!

And finally, Cherie Reich - who somehow made me enjoy sci-fi with her wonderful book, is giving a Game On shoutout!

Now, I know I'm not the only one releasing a book this week, which brings me to the next part of my post! Christine Rains wrote the most incredible story for the A-Z challenge this year, and now it is available for you to own! Fearless is a fantastic story about a young girl called Abby, who spends her life fighting away the monsters that haunt children's dreams. It's just brilliant, I cannot praise it enough, so go and grab yourselves a copy! You can find all the details to buy it here.

In honour of Christine's book launch, she is hosting the Childhood Monsters Bloghop!

So, let me tell you all about my childhood monster!

Well, I know many children have real, genuine monsters like the bogeyman in the closet, or the beast who lived under the bed. My childhood monster was a ghost. I'd never seen a ghost before, but I had this constant fear that one lived in my bedroom, and would ... well, I don't know what really ... but remember just being very scared of it. How did I protect myself against this monster? The way every child does, I think! I had my trusty Pound Puppy! Every night before bed, I made sure my Pound Puppy was firmly settled right up against the wall so that the ghost couldn't slither up through the gap between the wall and the bed to get me. I don't remember the point at which I stopped being afraid, but I do know that my little stuffed dog kept me safe!

  1. Stuffed animals are great for warding off danger. Goes nicely with the theme of FEARLESS too!

  2. What a horrid thing to be afraid of. Thank goodness for the protective power of stuffed toys. ^_^

  3. POUND PUPPIES!! I loved them as a kid. I think I still have mine, though he has no nose or eyes.

I love how you thought it could prevent the ghost slithering up through the gap between the wall and the bed, and didn't consider the ghost could just go around the other side! :P

Hehehe! I had two Pound Puppies too. Love your monster story. Ghosts are tricky in sneaky up gaps and such!

  5. Ahhh. Pound Puppies. They were the best. I had one big one, one small one. Ghosts were never something I was afraid of. Of course my parents built our house, so you wouldn't expect a ghost to be living there. :)

  6. Fun story!

I was convinced that monsters lived under my bed and in the closet, but never fear--like your Pound Puppy did, my stuffed animals kept me safe!

  12. Congrats on your book! I've heard about it a lot through the blogosphere and will have to check it out!

I was afraid of ghosts when I was a kid, too. Any creaking noise in the house was always a ghost in my mind.

  13. Good luck with your book! Ghosts are something that would scare anyone, especially children!

  17. My grandma had a Pound Puppy that used to sleep at the bottom of her bed. I fell in love with and she let me take it home :-) I wish I still had it.

As a child I was scared. A lot. I don't know what of but had a general fear of the upstairs of my house. Weird. Perhaps there was something there...

  19. Hah, that's pretty nifty, that a Pound Puppy could keep the scary stuff at bay. Now the jingle's coming to mind, "Pound Puppy, Pound Puppy...wherever I go, heeeeee goes..." It was something like that, wasn't it? (And how sad, if I'm right!) :-)

  21. I'm a bit late, but I'm off to check out your stops for the day!

You know how most kids sleep with the door open and the landing light on? It wasn't that comforting for me as the shadow of the lampshade on my ceiling looked like a monster with spooky eyes! We're the first people who've lived in the house we're in now, so we tell the kids there can't be any ghosts. :)

  22. Do you remember which Pound Puppy it was? I collected them back in the Eighties and early Nineties, and had just about all of them, even the Pound Purries and Pound Furries.

You had the perfect pound puppy; such a hero he was. Good luck with your own book tour. I've been reading lots of good things about the book.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
