Lucky 7 Meme Round 2, and blogfests galore!

Not to sound like a stereotypical Brit or anything, but, how gorgeous is the weather at the moment? In the South West of England, it's like summer! I must get to the beach, just in case this week is all the summer we're going to get lol!

So, Angela Cothran re-tagged me in the Lucky 7 Meme! This is probably one of my favourite memes ever, because it gives a glimpse inside everyone's work, and I'm just nosy like that! :D The last seven lines I posted have moved due to heavily editing my WIP, so I have some new ones for you, but first, the rules:

  1. Go to page 77 of your current MS
  2. Go to line 7
  3. Copy down the next 7 lines - sentences or paragraphs - and post them as they're written. No cheating
  4. Tag 7 authors
  5. Let them know

Here are my 7:

"Why are you in here?" I asked.

"I just wanted to see you," Radleigh answered, with an air of smugness. It was clear that he had the sole intention of making me flip my lid so he could run to Richard with more tales of my incompetence. He couldn't have chosen a better time. He had already unwittingly given me a head start.

"Well," I said, taking a deep breath, "Actually I wanted to see you too."

He raised an eyebrow, but before he could make a lewd suggestion, I held my hands up and said, "Don't. This is serious."

**

For those who aren't sure (because I don't know if the phrase is used in the U.S) "flip my lid" is a more creative way of saying, "lose my temper" :D

I won't be tagging anyone because I think everyone has done it already, but if not, feel free to join in!

**

Now onto blogfests! I have signed up for a whole bunch of cool bloghops lately - and because there are quite a few, I won't mention them individually, however, you can see them all in my sidebar! I hope to see some of you signing up too!

I guess that's all for now, so I am going to get back to editing!

  2. Interesting excerpt! I like the part where you wrote "before he could make a lewd suggestion", because those words right there suggested a lot about the character's personality. :)

  3. Is it weird that I'm jealous of the fact that you're British? :D

Nice piece! I love the Lucky 7 Meme too!!

  4. Don't worry, I understood "flip my lid" as another way of saying "pissing me off"--your version is more eloquent, tho. :P

  5. So pumped for the 'Dust it off' Fest! I'll see you there :)

  7. For me, it's a toss-up between the Lucky 7 Meme and the 11 Questions. I like this meme because I get to read other people's excerpt, which yours, BTW, is really good! But I also like the 11 Questions cuz I get to know more about the writers.

    Ack! Decisions, decisions! :)

  9. When I did my Lucky 7 meme this week, I just retagged (and linked back) to others who'd done it. Seems like everyone's doing it! And I knew what flip my lid means too. Don't hear it a lot, but I think most people would know what it means.

  10. Great snippet! There's lots of blogfests going on, but it's only the A to Z Challenge for me next month and that will certainly be enough itself.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
