Still hearing voices!

I am very sad to say that this is the last post in the "I'm Hearing Voices" blogfest! Cassie and Angie have done a wonderful job with this fest, and I have loved every single second of it! Thanks to everyone who has stopped by and left a comment, and followed my blog. I've followed many of you back, and I am having a lot of fun getting to know you all, and learning about your characters.

Today's challenge is to write a piece of emotional flash fiction in no more than 250 words. I am excited to say I did it - yay! This piece is, again, lifted from my WIP, and is written from the perspective of Shannen. Enjoy!

I hung up the phone, leaped out of bed and quickly threw some clothes on. Even though it was still warm, I put on my jeans and a long-sleeved top because I was shivering.  As soon as I was dressed, I grabbed my mobile and my keys, and went to wait for Guy outside.

It’s weird how slow the time goes when you’re waiting. My foot tapped impatiently, and all I could think about was the possibility that we wouldn’t find him. He’d been fighting the depression so hard, but every day I could see the weight of it pulling him down further, dragging him into the depths of darkness.

I should have been there for him. I shouldn't have left him when he'd begged me to stay. I’d rejected him when he needed me most, and if I lost him…

My knees buckled a little and I leaned against a nearby street light for support.

We had to find him.

When Guy arrived, the look of worry etched on his face easily matched my own. I jumped straight into his car, and we headed for Cal’s flat.

On the way, everything seemed so unreal. Everything around me looked the same, but I felt like I was in a bad dream, and I kept hoping I’d wake up soon because with each minute that passed, the likelihood of a happy ending was drifting further away.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, concludes my entries in the "I'm Hearing Voices" blog challenge! Thanks again for all your support! Now I'm off to read what you have written! :D

    1. Yes, Shannen is particularly afraid during this scene, and the scene that follows is one of my favourites that I've ever written!

Thanks, it is a cool font, and it makes things look a little more personalised.

Thanks for the follow, I am following you back!

  3. HOLY.HELL! This was amazing. I need more. NOW.

I know snippets of the story, so I'm wondering how it got to this point from what I've previously read.

Very powerful stuff. I especially liked this line:

"My knees buckled a little and I leaned against a nearby street light for support."

    Excellent stuff, chick!!

  8. Ooh that was fast paced showing the urgency and tension. I hope they find him. It reminded me of the night my cat went missing, recently. I felt just as surreal.

  9. I liked your part about how everything seemed surreal. That's been so true for me whenever I'm doing something like go to a funeral or a hospital for someone who's dying.

IWSG: Performance anxiety

Welcome to the August edition of IWSG, hosted by the amazing Alex J.Cavanaugh ! So, as most of you know by now - because I haven't shut up about it LOL - my first novel, Game On, has been released. The blog tour officially starts next week (YAY!) but I find myself becoming increasingly nervous. A blog tour not only highlights my book, but me. What if people don't like me? What if my guest posts suck, and everyone thinks I'm boring? If I can't engage people in 300 words on a blog, they probably aren't going to pick up my book. And then there's the "what happens next" question. I plan to make Game On into a series, which feels a bit arrogant of me. I don't know how many people are going to like the first book, should I really be planning to keep the series going? So far, Game On has actually been incredibly well received. I've had great reviews, so maybe I shouldn't worry about people not liking it, but what if Book Two isn't as goo

Dust It Off Bloghop!

Welcome to day one of the Dust It Off Bloghop, hosted by Theresa Paolo and Cortney Pearson ! This hop is all about the WIPs you wrote, and then shelved! Okay, so I am teaming up with Clare Dugmore for this one, because back in 2006 - yup, we've known each other THAT long lol! - we started to write a book together. Unfortunately, other commitments got in the way and we never finished it - but even so many years on - it's still something we remember fondly, so we're going to dust it off for you! The first day, May 3rd: We want you to post a 1-2 sentence pitch (Great way to practice pitches) about the shelved WIP. Here is the pitch Clare and I came up with: For best friends Caitlin and Tori, their first acting job out of Uni opens up a whole new world for them – unfortunately, it wasn’t the world they were expecting. When the strains of adult life and tangled relationships threaten to ruin their friendship, they are forced to take a look at what’s really importan
